Children’s
Forest to be planted
Give your
child a gift that keeps on growing
Your family can explore the magic and wonder of the natural
world by participating in our Children’s Forest program at the Nygren Wetland
Preserve. This is an opportunity for you and a special child to start a family
tradition that can last for generations.
For a gift of $1,200, you can purchase an oak tree which
will become a vital part of the reforestation program. $200 of the donation
covers the cost of planting and watering the tree. The remaining money will go
into an endowment for the perpetual care of the trees and restoration at the
Nygren Wetland Preserve.
Each tree planted in the Children’s Forest is paired with a
wooden post bearing a plaque. The plaque includes the child’s name and the date
the tree was planted. Each year, you will be invited to a “Watch Me Grow”
celebration, where children and their trees will be measured to see how much
each has grown.
Your participation in the Children’s Forest program helps
support stewardship of the Nygren Wetland Preserve, one of the largest
restoration projects in our region. The preserve is a beautiful 720-acre area
located where the meandering Pecatonica River meets the broad Rock River west of
Rockton.
