Land Management Includes Prescribed Burning

Natural Land Institute is fortunate that we are able to continue the daily work of protecting and managing our natural areas thanks to you, our members, donors and volunteers.

This week staff and volunteers conducted prescribed burns at a private Nature Preserve and a small pocket preserve that NLI purchased in 2005. We did this with staff and volunteers. We are able to continue this type of work because of you, our generous donors who helped provide a new truck, trailer, and skid steer purchased last year, and other necessary equipment that have helped make our work more efficient and productive.

NLI is your land trust. We invite you to get involved in a way that is meaningful to you. Right now is a good time to consider spending more time outside in nature and we have those opportunities available for you on a weekly and monthly basis with volunteer land stewardship days.

  • Saturday, March 21 is our Third Saturday Stewardship Day at Silver Creek Woods Preserve.
  • Every Wednesday volunteers help at Nygren Wetland Preserve.
  • Staff is now leading a weekly Thursday stewardship day at Burr Oak Valley Preserve, as well as on the First Saturday of the month.
  • The fourth Friday of the month we have a volunteer land stewardship day at William and Gayle Keefer Nature Reserve.
