Take a Hike With Us!

Celebrate OAKtober!

October is Oak Awareness Month in Illinois. With the state tree being the White Oak, why shouldn’t we celebrate? Join us for a guided walking tour that starts at 1:30 p.m. Hikers will be led by NLI Staff  through the rolling hills and oak savannas of Burr Oak Valley Preserve and will talk about the ongoing restoration work and the importance of an oak habitat.

Location/Parking: Burr Oak Valley Preserve is located at 7505 Elevator Road in Roscoe across from Cross and Crown  Lutheran Church (7404 Elevator Rd.) There is limited parking on site. Additional parking is available at the church. Hikers should wear long sleeves, pants and sturdy shoes.  Moderate to difficult level hiking.

Please register for this event by Friday, Oct. 25, 2019.

Cost: Free for NLI members.  $5 for non-members (includes a one-time 6 month introductory membership to NLI).
