The public is invited to participate in a community service day for nature! Collect seeds from native prairie wildflowers and grasses. Learn how to identify these plants in their dormant stage and best practices for collecting seeds.
NLI staff will lead a guided walking tour through the rolling hills of the restored and remnant prairies and the oak woodlands at Burr Oak Valley Nature Preserve.
The work at this site on Oct. 25th will focus on removing the fence and the brush (that shades out prairie plants) along the fence line surrounding the Nature Preserve.
Volunteer activities will include cutting and burning non-native invasive brush in this rare remnant prairie.
