If you are one of the many people who have visited Nygren Wetland Preserve this spring (6 ft. apart) to share in the wonder of the large flocks of American White Pelicans who have stopped over … or, if you are one of our dedicated volunteers at the beautiful Pecatonica Ridge Prairie, who has discovered the beauty of the emerging Pasque Flower or heard the call of the migrating warblers or the tap-tap-tapping of the Pileated woodpecker, then you have seen the incredible results, first hand, of the impact your support has created!

And — if you live along the Rock River — you know that NLI’s Nygren Wetland Preserve holds back millions of gallons of water in the springtime – helping to mitigate floodwaters. Your support provides critical habitat for the pollinators that are absolutely crucial to the growing of the food we eat — another reason why we do what we do! As COVID-19 rages around us, shuttering our familiar places of work and play, we remain hard at work, because Nature is open. Your gift can protect her increasingly threatened and valuable assets.

Nature is Still Open!
It hasn’t changed, and we are still in its service!
If you are able, your donation in any amount keeps our land and water healthy and protected during this critical time. Springtime projects include heavy habitat restoration for Blanding’s turtles, rusty patched bumble bee and osprey; wildlife monitoring; and invasive species control.

Your gift will help us continue our important work at the grassroots level. And in return, we give you the precious gift of Nature – clean air and water, habitat protection, and lots of opportunities to learn about our natural areas.  Especially now, we invite you to enjoy the outdoors and be engulfed in the peacefulness and healing powers of our natural areas – a sensory experience for all ages. Your support will keep our staff employed and working for you. Thank you for making a difference.
