The typical treatment for getting rid of mosquitos is by spraying with pesticide called fogging. We don’t like that option because it impacts a lot more than just mosquitos. According to HomgrownNationalPark.org, “These treatments don’t just affect mosquitoes—they can impact other insects, wildlife, and people, and they don’t address where mosquitoes reproduce. The Mosquito Bucket Challenge offers a more targeted approach. By controlling mosquitoes at the source, it reduces populations without affecting the rest of the ecosystem. It’s safe, it’s affordable, and it’s better for biodiversity.”

In this link watch a video by Doug Tallamy about why the bucket option is better and learn how to make the bucket. You can get creative with your bucket, too!
