Tickets to the Annual Dinner cost $45 (NLI member) or $60 (non-member, includes 1 year introductory NLI membership). A Table of 10 costs $450 (member) or $600 (non-member, includes a 1 year introductory NLI membership per person). The deadline to reserve tickets is March 13, 2017.

The Natural Land Institute is honored to host Arthur Melville Pearson as our guest speaker at this year’s Annual Dinner on Tuesday, March 21st, 2017, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Giovanni’s (610 N. Bell School Rd.) in Rockford. An accomplished writer, Arthur penned the biographical treatment of George B. Fell included in A Legacy of Natural Lands, the 50th anniversary publication of the Natural Land Institute. Pearson was so inspired by Fell that he embarked upon an in-depth examination of his life and accomplishments, resulting in the full-length book Force of Nature: George Fell, Founder of the Natural Areas Movement, published by the University of Wisconsin Press.

Arthur is an inspirational speaker and will be signing advance copies of his book which will be available for you to purchase at the event.

George Fell is one of the most important, but under-appreciated men in the history of American conservation. He was the driving force behind the establishment of The Nature Conservancy, the passage of the Illinois Nature Preserves Act, and founded the Natural Land Institute, one of the most successful land trusts in all of Illinois.

Natural Land Institute’s Annual Dinner is a gathering of approximately 250 of NLI’s regional community and land conservation supporters who get together to network and connect, and to hear about our impact on preserving and restoring natural areas in the region. In addition to the featured guest speaker, the program includes the presentation of the George and Barbara Fell Award, which recognizes outstanding achievements and leadership in land conservation.

Pasta Fresco (vegetarian) – pasta with light marinara sauce, fresh basil and fresh mozzarella
Chicken Romesco – chicken breast with roasted red pepper almond sauce, herb-roasted potatoes and oven roasted seasonal vegetables
Maple Walnut Crusted Salmon – with herb-roasted potatoes and oven roasted seasonal vegetables
Dessert: Turtle Cheesecake
