On Saturday, November 25, following Black Friday, you might want to destress, if you were out shopping, and spend some time outdoors helping to restore Silver Creek Woods Preserve, another hidden gem southwest of Rockford. This preserve was very special to our founder, George Fell and his wife Barbara. They donated it to NLI many years ago so it will be protected forever.
Please join our Site Steward, Dion Faith, for a few hours of fun, fresh air and exercise while feeling good about protecting this natural habitat while removing honeysuckle, carrying cut brush to the burn pile or monitoring the burn pile. Let him know that you want to volunteer by calling or texting him at 815-520-6916 or emailing him at Docfaith68@yahoo.com.
Start time is 9:00 a.m. Work a few hours or all day. Dress for the weather and be sure to wear sturdy boots and bring gloves, water and a lunch if you plan stay through the noon hour.
