Please join us in welcoming Grace Wieland, NLI’s new Field Biologist, who started on Monday, January 5, 2026. Grace was selected to fill this land stewardship position after an extensive search where dozens of applications were submitted and staff conducted interviews with several top candidates. Some of you may know Grace because she served on the NLI stewardship team from Oct. 2024 to Aug. 2025 through the AmeriCorps Service Program.
Grace holds a B.S. in Wildlife Ecology and Management from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and has more than two years of experience in restoration, wildlife monitoring, and land stewardship. She said, “I am personally drawn to this position because it represents the next step in a path I began during my 11-month AmeriCorps term with NLI, where I developed a strong connection to the organization’s mission, lands and people.”
Responsibilities of the Field Biologist include land stewardship and restoration activities, wildlife monitoring, maintaining and safely handling equipment and motor vehicles, assisting with site preparation for events and working with volunteers.
