The Natural Land Institute will host the Winter Tree & Shrub Identification Workshop on Saturday, January 13, 2018, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The workshop will be led by NLI’s Director of Stewardship, Zach Grycan. Participants will learn how to identify native and non-native trees and shrubs by buds, twigs, and bark. The workshop will start with an indoor classroom session to be held at Natural Land Institute’s office, 320 S. 3rd St., Rockford, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. There will be a break for lunch (on own). The afternoon session will incorporate hands-on learning with a walk from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Blackhawk Springs Forest Preserve, 5360 Mulford Rd., Cherry Valley, Ill.  61016.
