Donating Real Estate or Conservation Land through your Will or Trust
If you own property that you want to donate to NLI through your will or trust, the following language, which you should share with your attorney, can be used:
I hereby give, devise and bequeath to Natural Land Institute, a nonprofit corporation, organized and existing under the laws of Illinois, and with current business address of 320 South Third Street, Rockford, Illinois 61104, tax identification number 36-2478025, all of that certain piece, parcel or lot of land owned by me in the Town or County of _________ and more particularly described as follows: [full legal description of property]
I understand that the above-mentioned real estate may not qualify for protection under the NLI’s conservation program. If it does not qualify for protection, I hereby give my permission for it to be sold at the Natural Land Institute’s sole discretion and the proceeds used as NLI’s Board of Trustees deems appropriate to further the purposes of the Natural Land Institute.
If you have included the Natural Land Institute in your will or trust, please let us know, so we can thank you now and welcome you to the Land Legacy Circle.
The Land Legacy Circle is a group of supporters of the Natural Land Institute who have made a lasting commitment to conservation by naming the Institute as a beneficiary in their will or trust, or through their estate plans.
Natural Land Institute is a tax exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
